It all started in 2003 when I saw an opportunity to make money from buying and selling on ebay. At the time I was working for Business Serve (Business ISP) in Lancaster. I was an Account Manager and had over 1000 customer account to look after and advise on how to generate the best return on investment they could from thier websites.
One thing then lead to another and the company merged with Search Engineers (Search Engine Optimisation Company). From then on I started learning more and more about Search Engines and helping my customers to achive their goals. I then started to think 'Why am I doing this on ebay when I could earn more money with my own website ?'. So I started designing websites and boy was my first website terrible :-)
I started getting in touch with suppliers of childrens bedding and fleece blankets. I concentrated very hard on www.fleece-blankets.co.uk as slowly cut out ebay. My site was crap initially and was getting about 9 visitors per day. I decided to further my knowledge about search engines and Google in particular. As my knowledge grew and grew so did my statistics and my sales. I couldn't believe it. This just made me want to learn more and more about website design for search engines and online marketing.
I was then lucky enough towards the end of 2005 to be made redundant by Business Serve who had changed their name to Legend. I contacted a company in Lancaster called Business 1st who said they specialise in E-Commerce and Online Marketing. As I had been working with the internet for several years and E-Commerce / Marketing are more hobbies to me, they knew they had to employ me. I'm now working for them around the north of England as an E-Business Consultant helping more businesses than ever achieve a higher return on investment.
